Another thing: the difference between mediator and high priest in this case is that I think Jesus being the mediator carries with it the invitation to heaven that no one but a fraction of a % get. He attones for all sins but only invites a small number whereas the high priest can only attone for sins, period. High priest can't invite anyone to heaven. Weird how they conjured that up, isn't it?

Guest,
That is fascinating! It makes sense because there was a great shake up that split the org or whatever it was called back then in 1/2.

The way I learned it was:
Jehovah is the alpha and omega and all of that beginning and ending stuff.
Jesus is not the mediator for the great crowd but their high priest who is able to make atonement for their sins.
The scorpions are the JW's who preach a stinging message to those that don't want to hear it. The message is supposed to be taken like the sting of a scorpion, something no one wants. A painful message.

I attended my last meeting in October '05 but now that I think about it, I did notice that the fire is gone. They appeared so exhausted both mentally and physically that when they smiled, it was a sad smile, certainly fake. I remember having fun in service in the '80's. People were happy then. When I began pioneering in the late '90's, people had less tollerance for each other. They had yelling fights and gossiped jealously amongst themselves. It must be worse and sadder now. When they walk into the hall, they seem to drag their faces behind them. I feel for them. To them, they have no choice but to push along in order to live forever. Their families are held hostage in it so they can't just chuck it all. Mine still believe that we are doing very well in the "truth." It makes me gag to have to write how well we are doing in it instead of just simply doing well in life. I think my dad wants to just quit like he did so many years ago, but with the family pressure, he can't and he pressures us as well. Many may want to escape now but feel stuck. It's sad. I hope they find their way out.

What were your favourite topics in the field service?
by JH inoh, i loved it when there was an earthquake someplace around the world, or famine or war just to make a juicy introduction... .
bad economic news also made a good conversation..

I hated all of the topics and wish there was another way of witnessing to others.

Ever get spanked for pulling your dress up in the meeting when little?
by White Dove inhave you ever gotten slapped and dragged into the back room for a spanking because your mother or father accused you of pulling your skirt up during the meeting?
i was thinking of the little girls outgrowing their dresses and them becoming so short that it was hard to sit 2 hours with the skirt pulled down over your knees or just above, at the very least.
my sister's and my dresses were always too short when we sat down and could only keep them pulled down to a decent length when standing, not sitting.

Only 3 months old? She tried to pull that sh!t on a 3 MONTH OLD?!!! My mom spanked me at that age for the first time and was so pleased that it stopped my crying that she bragged to everyone about it. The fact that I even know about it proves it. She was still talking about it way into my adulthood! She complemented another harsh mother on her excellent spanking of her daughters. Sick

Nosferatu,
I'm proud of you! Keep standing your ground. Your mother doesn't deserve to see your boy as long as she doesn't respect you. She might teach your boy not to respect you, too. Can't risk that. Also, she may be your mom, but a title is weak compared to character attributes. One must earn respect. It's not automatic like the womyn in my family seem to think. I believe that respect comes from the heart and must be cultivated by both parties, otherwise: forget them!

Has anyone been in one of the dramas while a JW?
by Nowman init probably was one of my few happy moments of being a jw.
my mom, dad, and i were asked to be in the modern day drama, think it was in 1988-1990 (not sure exactly).
i played a worldly girl named "dolly winters" who was considered a bold and brazon girl who eventually studied to become one of jws because of a good example jw that she went to school with.

Congrats! I have always wanted to be in one for the acting and the noteriety (at least I'm honest). Never was chosen. Pioneered for just that reason-to be picked (also had a crush on another pioneer going through a divorce). Quit JW's in 2005, got involved in the Pentecostals AOG, got saved, got baptized, and got picked immediately after auditions for a speaking part (I'm deaf) in this year's Easter production where over 5,000 people in the community saw it! Hope you can get with a production of some kind in your non-jw life:) Best wishes!

Yet another way to have fun with the elders: bust them and get free

who has ever gone in service for a reason other than "to encourage bible reading?
" ever flirt at the doors when alone or with the right kind of partner for that?

Brother Apostate,
I usually take a dare if it won't damage my body or cause pain to myself or another person.
